THERE IS A PLACE FOR YOU IN OUR ALL GENDER CABINS
ALL GENDER CABINS AT DREAMWOOD
TORONTO – On April 16, 2021, Camp Dreamwood announced the launch of its all gender cabins as part of its commitment to inclusive programming.
As one of the only overnight summer camp programs in Ontario to offer such cabins at this time, Camp Dreamwood will be taking the next step in its inclusion model. In addition to the girls’ and boys' cabins, interested campers will now be able to select an all gender cabin. Supported by both a female and male counsellor, these cabins will be open to all interested campers, inclusive of all gender identities.
“There are a number of camps across North America geared specifically towards special needs campers and LGBTQ youth, but Camp Dreamwood is constantly striving and proud to be one of the only camps in Ontario that truly welcomes everyone and allows children to come as they are,” said Ashley Duarte-Devlin, Owner and Director, Camp Dreamwood. “We want to allow all campers to have the traditional camp experience and continue to ensure that every child who attends Dreamwood is welcomed, included, and celebrated.”
The addition of these cabins highlights Camp Dreamwood’s commitment to inclusive programming. Currently, Camp Dreamwood offers unique camp-wide programming developed for campers of all ages, abilities, and genders.
“It is extremely exciting to be a part of a camp that truly goes above and beyond for inclusivity. We hope adding this cabin option will allow even more families and their children the opportunity to feel a part of the overnight summer camp experience offered at Camp Dreamwood,” said Madison Thakore, Assistant Director, Camp Dreamwood. “This next step in our inclusion programming highlights our commitment to recognizing children of all gender identities, abilities, and backgrounds.”
